seeing red

I celebrated a milestone birthday last week, and because my husband is the best, he spoiled me with a shopping spree and an amazing birthday party (more on the party later). While we were shopping, I noticed a distinct pattern: I couldn't resist red. Red shoes, red bags, red dresses, red gloves - you name it, if it was in crimson, I wanted it.

One of fall 2011's key colors, I fell for red back in August when I styled a shoot with local rock band See Jane Rock. Fronted by twin sisters Mia and Sydney, the band was going for a rock chic look. I pulled a pair of super skinny, bright red jeans by Rich & Skinny and paired them with a sparkly Alice + Olivia top, my own leather jacket, and Mia's own Converse.

Mia looked pretty badass, and I was instantly obsessed. After the shoot I even bought my very own pair of red skinny jeans.

So back to my birthday shopping spree - my love affair with red, sparked by those red skinny jeans, was in full effect. Check out my new wardrobe staples:

1/ BCBGMAXAZRIA Mariana Tiered A-Line Dress
This is an absolutely perfect cocktail dress. I have a really hard time finding illusion necklines that fit my frame, so I almost didn't try this on - but I couldn't resist the bright, juicy red tiers and full skirt. It even has pockets! I was so excited when it fit perfectly! www.bcbg.com

Perfectly pretty

Isn't the detail on the neckline to die for?

What a gorgeous red!

2/ Sam Edelman Roza Pump
These shoes are so killer. When I spotted these across the shoe floor at Nordstrom, I was literally like a moth drawn to their ferocious flame. Red suede, stud embellishment - what else do you need? www.nordstrom.com

Oh-so-sexy, am I right?

Yowza!

3/ Aldo Aeillo Sneaker and Red Leather Gloves
Those who know me well know I am a bit obsessed with houndstooth. So take my favorite fabric, make a sneaker out of it, and throw in some red laces, and there was no other option - I had to have them. I also found a super cute pair of red leather gloves with a bow and stud detail that needed of a loving home. www.aldo.com

So cute - how could I say no?

Love the buckle detail on the heel!

Fun and femme
