derek lam f/w 2012

At his fall 2012 show, designer Derek Lam put a bookmark printed with "The Library" on each seat (I so wish I had one of these in my possession). The girls on the runway - clad in leather, plush shearling, and absolutely gorgeous knits - looked like some seriously chic bookworms. Smart girls can love fashion too, after all. The opening print was inspired by the decorative front page of an old book, and it looked best on a patent leather top paired with a black leather pencil skirt and a matching bag. The shows second major graphic statement, a paisley jacquard that looked like lace, was absolutely beautiful. All in all, the collection was filled with gorgeous clothes made even more special with outstanding details and luxe textiles. See the complete collection here.
