the hunt: perfect parkas

UPDATE: Hey, it's 2012! Want a parka to wear this fall? Check out

When you live in Michigan (or anywhere else with schizophrenic fall/winter weather), your outwear wardrobe deserves just as much attention as your regular wardrobe. With the temperature dropping, I find myself craving the comfort of a warm, cozy jacket that will help me transition from the golden days of autumn to the gray days of winter. Fortunately, lots of labels have been updating a utilitarian classic: the parka. The best come with (faux or real) fur trim and extra special details. Here are some of my faves:

FAUX REAL

1/ Madewell Fairbanks Parka
With a removable sherpa lining, this hooded parka with removable faux fur trim is warm and versatile.

$298, Madewell

2/ RVCA Stimulus II Jacket
The hood on this baby is sherpa lined and faux-fur trimmed - so cozy!

$144, EVO

FUR REAL

3/ Burberry Fur Trim Hooded Parka
A relaxed fit, hood with detachable fox fur trim, zipper sleeve detail and tonal check lining help keep the cold at bay.

$1,295, Burberry

4/ Patterson J. Kincaid Angela Fur Trim Parka
This cotton-twill parka with a fox fur trimmed, zip-off hood also has a detachable sherpa vest lining, so it's adaptable to ever-changing weather conditions.

$298, Shopbop
