the target + neiman marcus dream team

Karlie Kloss in Prabal Gurung, one of the 24 CFDA designers creating pieces for the
Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday 24 collection

No images have been released yet, but the Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday 24 ad campaign shoot brought together a fashion dream team. Seriously, if there was an Olympic event for photoshoots, this crew would win: photographer Craig McDean, stylist (and my hero) Alex White, and hair stylist Orlando Pita. Oh, and it stars Karlie Kloss. No big deal. The campaign, which will cover online, print, out of home, TV and social media, apparently required Kloss to draw on her dance background. What do you think the odds are that it has a Nutcracker theme?

something fishy

This adorable video will instantly make you want to run to the nearest Marc by Marc Jacobs store to catch one of these brilliant fishing lure keychains. So cute, and apparently they're all you need to reel in fab MJ handbags! Unfortunately we don't have a Marc by Marc store here in Detroit, so my keys will sadly remain fishless. say hello to the heroine, mcqueen's $40,000 stunner

Getting email from Alexander McQueen is always exciting, even though they're usually to promote a product I could only ever dream of affording. Take, for example, the email I received earlier this week announcing the launch of the house's new "it" bag, the Heroine.

She's a real beauty. Sleek, curvy silhouette with beautiful structure and detailing rendered in luxurious black crocodile. Good looks like that don't come cheap, though - the croc Heroine rings in at a jaw dropping $37,995 (well over $40,000 when you figure in tax). But the style is available in more budget friendly materials, starting at $2,295 for a small oxblood suede bag and topping out at $2,595 for a medium black calf leather version. Ok, maybe they're still not that budget friendly, but they sure are gorgeous.

alexander mcqueen's fall campaign is out of this world

For Alexander McQueen's fall campaign is awesome. Suvi Koponen looks like a futuristic creature from another planet in her exploded ruffles, platinum blonde slicked back hair, and silver visor glasses. Shot by David Sims, the campaign features some of the most extraordinary pieces from the fall collection and gives us a closer look at the truly epic shoes. Oh, and there's also a super trippy campaign video to go along with it. Check out the video and the full campaign below.

cr fashion book sneak peek!

I can't describe how excited I am about CR Fashion Book, the new magazine from uber editor Carine Roitfeld. If the above image is any indication, the magazine - which debuts September 13 - is going to be f*ing spectacular. The image, shot by Sebastian Faena and starring Juliet Ingleby as the sexiest widow ever, was released as a teaser GIF on crfashionbook.com, where, if you know what's good for you, you can also pre-order the premiere issue.

ka-pow! 3.1 phillip lim pre-fall

I'm in love with the 3.1 Phillip Lim pre-fall collection. Especially the comic-inspired knits and accessories. The bold colors and graphics are cheeky, whimsical and nostalgic while still maintaining a fashion-forward edge. I mean, what are comics if not the ultimate form of colorblocking? I'm particularly obsessed with two fab, superhero worthy pieces:

newsflash: neiman marcus and target's designer holiday

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we just celebrated 4th of July, so it's a little early to think about holiday shopping, right? Well, think about it, because today WWD reported that Neiman Marcus and Target have rallied a group of spectacular guest designers for an ambitious holiday collection. From WWD:

Neiman’s, the luxury chain, and Target, the trendy discounter, are getting together for Christmas in an unprecedented partnership whereby they jointly corralled 24 CFDA designers to create items for a limited-edition holiday collection, WWD has learned. The Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection will be sold beginning Dec. 1 at all 1,763 Target stores and the 42 Neiman Marcus stores, as well as online at target.com and neimanmarcus.com.
The collection ranges from $7.99 to $499.99, with most items less than $60. Designers who created pieces for the collection include Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta and Tory Burch.
According to top executives from both stores, the collection will include more than 50 limited-edition gifts in men’s, women’s, children’s apparel and accessories, as well as other categories that some of the designers are getting into for the first time, such as sporting goods, home decor, pet accessories and accessories for electronics.
Each designer created one to three items...Alice + Olivia, Altuzarra, Band of Outsiders, Brian Atwood, Eddie Borgo, Judith Leiber, Lela Rose, Marchesa, Philip Crangi, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone, Robert Rodriguez, Rodarte, Skaist-Taylor, Thom Browne and Tracy Reese are also among the labels participating.

beauty buzz: befine exfoliating cleanser

My husband and I spent the 4th of July holiday up at our cottage, and of course I forgot to pack my face wash when we came home. Luckily, a past Birchbox included a sample of Befine Exfoliating Cleanser, and I am seriously in love with this stuff. The magic is in the brown sugar beads - as they slough away dead skin and impurities, the brown sugar melts, transforming the formula from lightly abrasive to rich and creamy as you cleanse. The sweet almond oil and oat protein hydrate your skin, making this the first exfoliator I have ever used that leaves my face feeling soft, moisturized and completely replenished. And it doesn't hurt that it smells good enough to eat.

happy fourth of july!

Happy 4th of July, everyone! I'm celebrating our nation's birthday on the lake, but if you're stuck in the city, why not hit the town in some patriotic platforms from Jeffrey Campbell?
