runway to davenport: louis vuitton

Guest blogger Amanda Sinistaj, the interior designer who, in her first post, showed you how to translate Alexander McQueen's inimitable style into your home decor, has set her sights on the oh-so-sweet Louis Vuitton spring collection. For her second post on paper + cloth, Amanda takes the girly frocks off the runway and into your boudoir.

The spring 2012 Louis Vuitton collection…ahhh, how sweet it is! Pastel colors and laser-cut lace tops and dresses left me with a feeling of innocence and remind me of when I used to play dress up. (Let’s be honest - my girlfriends and I still do when the occasion calls for it.) I think you can find your inner child whilst still living as an adult. So I’ve built these selections around the grown up princess. Playing with texture and a lack of color proves that you can uniquely express yourself by personalizing your selections.

White can be bold if played up with the right scale. Notice the size and detail of the headboard in the above bedroom. It’s whimsical but sophisticated at the same time.  The small pattern in the lace bedspread balances well with the large scale stylized floral pattern in the pewter rug. White can be bold. And in this case, it can create the mood of an ethereal palace.

This chandelier is comprised of tiny flower buds edged in silver made of translucent capiz shells. Super femme, unique and lovely.
$549.90, Horchow

If it’s an all white room you are going for, accents are important to give it personality. These Diana Jars by Global Views are handcrafted and have an opal sheen. Perfect for the nightstand or as accessories in a bathroom.

If you have not been to 1stdibs, go. Created by King Kue, galvanized steel links make the base of the tree and branches while brass and copper attachments affix the delicate feather leaves. Eerie and delicate, this is a conversation piece that takes you through the wardrobe to a fantasy land, for sure.
Price upon request, 1stdibs

Similar to the laser cut dresses of Louis Vuitton, the Ginger Salt Side Table from Crate & Barrel features a white Celtic knot pattern. Slightly more structured, this steel powder coated table is a great accent piece.
$299, Crate & Barrel

To keep you floating off the ground in this wonderland, a super, ridiculously soft rug - like this white shaggy jersey rug from Crate & Barrel - will make you feel like you are walking on clouds.
$9.95-$99.95, Crate & Barrel

Let’s see…you’ll need something for the windows, or a room divider for privacy. ArTecnica’s intricate Until Dawn Curtain is a web of laser cut floral and woodland creatures, and it’s easily installed wherever a touch of texture or a splash of whimsy is needed.
$123, YLiving

With all the texture and intricacies in this collection and in this bedroom, it would be nice to play with the light. This Butler specialty bedroom bench has an antiqued glass apron and legs.
$469, Amazon.com
